I'm fundraising for Active August

Join me in the fight against hunger!

Around the world, over 155 million children under 5 are malnourished, but we can make a difference.

I'm getting active and raising funds this August to empower families to grow food, earn an income and feed their children.

No child should suffer from hunger. Please support my efforts today!

Extra Day walking

Sunday 31st Aug
Today we had our last day of perfect winter weather. Yes we had a mild chilly coastal breeze, however walking with my husband made it perfect. We will continue to do our walking on a weekly basis. I look forward to next year's Active August Challenge. Please join me in 2026. God bless you from Heidi Grimshaw

Completed 35 km Walk

Thursday 28th Aug
Today I completed the final 2 km walk of my 35 km goal for Active August. My husband supported me during this final walk in freezing windy weather. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Active August Challenge and look forward to doing this again in 2026.

Seventh day 24 August

Sunday 24th Aug
It was a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon to be walking. Many people were out walking their dogs & riding bikes, Young mothers with their Children in prams, Elderly people, Groups, Couples, and Young people. Today I walked solo and achieved 6 km round trip from War memorial to Coles beach. The walking is getting easier from when I started 3 weeks ago. My clothes are also fitting much more comfortably. Thank you Active August for getting me out of my comfort zone. I am looking forward to the next 2 km to finish with. But maybe I will do an extra few more km just because I can.

Sixth Day 21 August

Thursday 21st Aug
My husband and I (after having breakfast at the Maritime Museum), started our walk from the Vietnam War Memorial to Coles beach. WE enjoyed our time together whilst taking in the cool fresh air during the 4 km return trip. This month of August is turning out to be very interesting to improve my fitness level and for personal enjoyment. I hope this Blog is inspiring you too.

Fifth Day 18 August

Monday 18th Aug
Walked 6 km alone today along the Bluff to the City Centre of Devonport. Absolutely beautiful weather for August. Video called a friend in NSW and enjoyed the catchup whilst walking.

Fourth Day 17 August

Monday 18th Aug
Today my husband and I walked at Devonport foreshore. The day was sunny with lots of people about. Loved the 6 km walk. Legs are a bit sore today but it was worth seeing Devonport City / Harbour.

Third Day 10 August

Monday 18th Aug
Third Day I was walking with my sweetheart husband. Today we went to East Devonport from the Caravan Park all the way to Pardoe Park / Beach. This is heading towards Devonport Airport. A beautiful day walking together for a 5 km return trip.

Second Day 8 August

Monday 18th Aug
Second day of walking was a short walk. I didn't have much time today. Still it was great getting out into the fresh air and doing an activity I love.

First day 7 August

Friday 8th Aug
My first day walking (with my husband's support) consisted of a 4 km round trip walk at East Devonport. The morning had a brisk, icy wind but the sun gave us warmth enough to keep going. Let's see what happens on day 2.
